T-Mobile’s Project 10 Million Delivers Hot Spots to Logansport Community School Corporation Students

Logansport Community School Corporation is the proud recipient of free hotspots through Project 10 Million by T-Mobile. According to a 2016 Pew Research Center study, one-fifth of adults who lived in households with annual incomes less than $30,000 were “smartphone-only” internet users – meaning they own a smartphone but do not have broadband internet or a device at home.

Logansport Community School Corporation offers a 1:1 technology program, but over 150 families indicated during school registration they do not have high-speed Internet at home. Having the ability to offer hotspots to families without high-speed Internet access will help bridge an educational cap that exists when remote learning or e-Learning is required during the school year.

With funds from the GEER grant for connectivity, LCSC will provide unlimited data for hotspots through June 2021. Each hotspot will have a CIPA Internet filter to block streaming websites and other frequently used browsers to encourage the hotspot use for educational purposes only. T-Mobile will provide direct technical support to families with hotspots as needed.
Distribution of hotspots is expected to begin after students return from Thanksgiving Vacation.
